Reading is not simply a cognitive process; it is an emotional response.
For children to fall in love with books, we must show them that we love books.
If we want children to talk enthusiastically about books, we too must talk enthusiastically about books.
This is the role and the responsibility of the adult reader.
It is with this in mind that I have selected these books, books that will support your learners as they journey towards becoming a real reader, someone who loves to read and does so independently, not because they have been told to but simply because they enjoy it.
This is the reward of all readers.
Below are 100+ Picture Book Study packs that accompany some of my favourite books.
Each pack is designed to encourage readers to talk about what they are reading and develop a love of books and storytelling.
Should you wish to include Picture Book Studies as part of your approach to Guided Reading (and I sincerely advocate that you do) then the following bundles will provide you with a useful starting point.
These book bundles will excite and entertain your learners, make them curious about the world in which we live and encourage them to become lovers of language, lovers of literature and readers for life.
As teachers, it is essential that we keep in mind the importance of developing the whole child and not just the reader. These bundles provide this opportunity.
Feel free to adopt or adapt each one to suit your learners’ needs and, above all, enjoy them in a way that is both inclusive and creative.
